Four new terpenes from the pericarp of Platycladus orientalis.

A new monoterpene, platydiol (1), and three new diterpenes, platyclolactonic acid (2), 14,15-bisnor-8(17)-labdene-16,19-dioic acid (3), and 6,7-dehydrosandaracopimaric acid (4), were isolated from the pericarp of Platycladus orientalis. Their structures were elucidated by spectral and chemical methods.

De Novo Transcriptome Assembly and Characterization for the Widespread and Stress-Tolerant Conifer Platycladus orientalis

Platycladus orientalis, of the family Cupressaceae, is a widespread conifer throughout China and is extensively used for ecological reforestation, horticulture, and in medicine. Transcriptome assemblies are required for this ecologically important conifer for understanding genes underpinning adaptation and complex traits for breeding programs. To enrich the species' genomic resources, a de novo...

Old-Growth Platycladus orientalis as a Resource for Reproductive Capacity and Genetic Diversity

AIMS Platycladus orientalis (Cupressaceae) is an old-growth tree species which distributed in the imperial parks and ancient temples in Beijing, China. We aim to (1) examine the genetic diversity and reproductive traits of old-growth and young populations of P. orientalis to ascertain whether the older populations contain a higher genetic diversity, more private alleles and a higher reproductiv...

Genetic evaluation of the breeding population of a valuable reforestation conifer Platycladus orientalis (Cupressaceae)

Platycladus orientalis, a widespread conifer with long lifespan and significant adaptability. It is much used in reforestation in north China and commonly planted in central Asia. With the increasing demand for plantation forest in central to north China, breeding programs are progressively established for this species. Efficient use of breeding resources requires good understanding of the gene...
